We are currently seeking a highly qualified Associate Research Scientist to join our Product Development department in Richmond, VA. The successful candidate will act as a product regulatory integration specialist and will collaborate with Research, Development and Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, and our Tobacco Product Operating Companies to support our cigarette, cigar and smokeless initiatives related to product regulations.
Specific accountabilities include:
• Participating on Altria’s Product Regulatory Integration team with the work required by Research, Development and Regulatory Affairs and other functions in support of operating company initiatives. • Independently compiling and authoring product packaging material summaries for new product regulatory submissions. • Independently compiling and authoring responses to FDA questions regarding packaging materials for product regulatory submissions. • Managing the process for product data quality control and assurance for regulatory submissions. • Providing business knowledge to increase understanding of regulatory policy, rulemaking, product pathways, science requirements, application approaches and submission strategies. • Establishing and building partnerships with Operating Companies, vendors and peers. • Preparing regulatory report templates for new product applications. • Independently applying business-specific or scientific principles and techniques to analyze and solve problems.Qualifications include:
• A Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in an engineering or science discipline. • Experience and knowledge of FDA regulatory requirements for development, documentation and authorization of new products preferred. • 3+ years of product development or manufacturing experience preferred, preferably in a regulated environment. • Must be detail oriented with experience working in a quality driven environment. • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and project planning abilities. • Capability to work collaboratively with cross functional partners and suppliers. • Ability to influence others without authority. • Self-motivation and direction, high initiative and flexibility. • Ability to apply the Company Values: Integrity, Trust & Respect, Sharing with Others, Driving Creativity, Passion to Succeed and Executing with Quality. • Must be able to perform the duties of a general office environment, however, on occasion may need to climb ladders and wear protective equipment required of a manufacturing environment.
