Christiana Care Health System is currently seeking a Clinical Data Quality Specialist for the Ambulatory and Network Quality department. In this role you will abstract, interpret and present data for assigned database or registry with the objectives of assisting performance improvement and care management demonstrate excellence in health and clinical outcomes.
Assess appropriate inclusion/exclusion of data based on defined data dictionary; assist in evaluation of data dictionaries and utilize data specification and code to validate information being placed in new applications related to quality.
Attain and maintain proficiency in data abstraction and entry.
Utilize basic understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding in daily work routine.
Generate routine and ad hoc reports as directed within required time frame.
Establish a systematic, and/or clinical service line approach to all aspects of the project/program to include assessment and readiness, planning, training, implementation, coaching and sustainment.
Work with members of the quality team, Medical Group leadership and CCHS managed care contracting individuals to identify and close gaps in care as related to payer contracts.
Evaluate and maintain clear documentation of project achievements based on established goals.
Maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with peers, supervisors, clinicians, administrative staff, and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) participants as necessary to gather data.
Identify opportunities for improvement and alternate strategies when goals are not met.
Assist in the identification of issues with data collection methods; assures methods for collection meet/exceed accreditation, regulatory, and institutional standards.
Monitor results against established benchmarks in the evaluation of effectiveness and impact.
Present progress reports/findings on a regular basis to appropriate constituencies within the system.
Bachelors degree in healthcare or related business field. BSN preferred
At least 5 years of work experience with at least two years of experience in Patient Safety, Quality or Performance Improvement
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required.
Knowledge of or experience in any of the following is preferred: computers, data abstraction and entry, outcome analysis, utilization management, clinical experiences in patient care processes, medical records, Performance Improvement, team facilitation and education (patient/staff) and physiology and disease processes.
Organizational skills and project management required.
