The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is currently seeking a full-time Senior Director to join our Quality team. This position reports to the Vice President, Quality Advocacy, Research & Innovation and will be primarily responsible for assisting in the formulation of HANYS’ advocacy and education strategies for the Association’s quality agenda; conducting policy analysis and research; collaborating with HANYS’ members and advocating on their behalf with regulators and policymakers; and developing information, education/collaboratives, and other member resources. A remote work arrangement in New York State may be considered, with occasional scheduled onsite office days in our Rensselaer, NY corporate office.
Key activities include but are not limited to:
Working with the Vice President, Senior Directors, and other Quality staff to develop and implement a strategic plan for the HANYS Quality division that supports HANYS organizational goals, including advocacy and the development of programs, tools, education, and communications.
Supporting HANYS’ Statewide Steering Committee, its subgroups, and HANYS’ various quality-related Advisory Committees.
Leading or co-leading the Association’s Federal and State Quality advocacy agenda by conducting research and analyzing newly proposed and/or adopted quality-related state and federal policy, including legislation, budget initiatives, and regulations, and developing HANYS’ positions.
Leading or co-leading HANYS’ quality collaboratives and learning networks including, Antibiotic Stewardship and others as needed.
Leading or co-leading HANYS’ professional development programming, such as the HANYS Quality Residency and Middle Manager programs.
Developing grant and contract proposals for local, regional, state, and national funders to advance the mission and goals of HANYS.
Working closely with other Quality division staff and cross-divisional teams on key Association policy priorities.
Has supervisory responsibility for employee(s) to include hiring, training, developing and conducting performance reviews.

Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare quality management, hospital administration, healthcare administration, or related healthcare specialization, required, Master’s degree in these disciplines preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be substituted.
At least 5 years of healthcare quality improvement and patient safety experience required. Clinical experience strongly preferred.
CPHQ certification preferred, or required within the first year of employment.
Strong quality reporting program knowledge.
Ability to understand, analyze and act upon federal rules, state legislation and regulations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational/project management skills.
Ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Moderate travel in NYS with some overnights required. Travel not expected in 2021 due to COVID.
