Research Compliance Coordinator I

Under the general supervision of the Director of Research Compliance, will coordinate all aspects of the process by which research involving human or animal subjects is reviewed to ensure compliance with institutional and federal policies and regulations.

Responsibilities:
Compliance/Regulatory Management

• Review all human or animal subject documents assigned and provide relevant feedback regarding recommendations for changes, or policy requirements in order to secure appropriate approval.
• Provide assistance through conversation or correspondence to investigators and research staff in choosing and completing the appropriate rese compliance documents for review.
• Prepares materials for review and signature by Chair and/or other Committee members, including correspondence, memos and reports.
• Provide extensive review of all human or animal subject proposals, protocol amendments, and continuing review documents to ensure compliance with federal, state and institutional policies.

Oversee and assist in the preparation of materials in advance of each IRB or IACUC meeting

• Prepares agenda document for Committee review and meeting presentation slides.
• Oversee distribution process of agenda and supporting materials.

Provide regulatory and administrative support to convened IRB or IACUC

• Attend convened meetings.
• Provide information regarding federal, state and institutional policies as requested.
• Prepare comprehensive minutes of convened meetings.

Maintain appropriate knowledge of federal, state and institutional policies regarding the protection of human and animal subjects

• Reviews federal, state and institutional policies as often as necessary to maintain current knowledge.
• Regularly attends relevant local and national workshops.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree plus 6 months relevant experience; OR 3 years relevant experience.
• License/Certification: Certified IRB Professional preferred.
• Experience: See "Education"
• Detailed knowledge of regulations regarding the use of human and animal subjects.
• Communication and interpersonal skills needed to work closely and effectively with principal investigations, committee members and administrative personnel.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong independent thinking and complex problem solving skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Office products, including MS Word and MS Access.
• May act as the manager in the manager's absence.
